The Concept Behind Back to Ordovizium

Back to Ordovizium represents a world where humanity has no place.

The Ordovician stands for the primordial, the alien, and the hostile — a lost world of dark oceans, strange creatures, and pure survival.

This is where our lyrics collide with the demonic: love and hate, women and desire, betrayal, loss, fear, and death. Human abysses merge with satanic and diabolical imagery, creating stories of obsession, lust, revenge, and destruction.

The trilobite and the Ordovician represent an ancient world without mankind. The demonic represents the darkness lurking within mankind itself.

Two worlds. The same abyss.

BACK TO ORDOVIZIUM – Band Bio

Back to Ordovizium was formed in Chemnitz, Germany, in February 2021. What initially began as an experiment with more melodic metal influences and female vocals soon evolved into a significantly heavier and darker direction.

Today, Back to Ordovizium stands for dark, melodic Death Metal with strong Thrash Metal influences. Heavy, driving riffs collide with melodic elements, atmospheric keyboards and a powerful rhythmic foundation, creating a sound that remains dark and intense without sacrificing melody. Lyrically, the band explores satanic and demonic themes alongside the darker depths of human emotion – love and desire as well as hatred, betrayal, fear and loss.

The current line-up consists of Donathas on lead guitar and vocals, formerly of Facehugger, Stefan on drums, formerly of the German Black/Death Metal band Eminenz, Enrico on keyboards, and Rico “Defa” on rhythm guitar.

The band currently has no permanent bass player. For live performances, bass duties are either handled by a guest musician or integrated into the live setup as a pre-recorded bass track. At the same time, Back to Ordovizium is looking for a permanent bassist to complete the line-up both musically and on stage.

Back to Ordovizium has never been about fitting neatly into a single genre. Death Metal provides the foundation, Thrash brings the attack, while melody and atmosphere bring the darkness.

What began as an experiment in 2021 has since developed into a sound and identity of its own.
